Sawdey Solution Services, Inc. History
Beginning in early 2001, Connie and Jeff Sawdey, founders of Sawdey Solution Services, Inc. (Sawdey), were already planning how they could better support customers and were relishing the challenge of starting their own company focused on premier professional services to the Department of Defense (DOD). On 23 April 2001 Connie and Jeff celebrated the incorporation and founding of Sawdey and began the hard work of getting a start-up company up and running. Sawdey’s first contract award was a subcontract, issued to Sawdey by Connie’s previous employer, for Connie Sawdey to continue supporting the US Air Force’s Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Materiel System Group (MSG) beginning 1 Sep 2001. Their revenue that year was just $34,000. It took about 18 months for Connie and Jeff to grow enough work to add their second employee, Jeff Sawdey. In 2003, Sawdey was accepted into the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Program, which the Sawdey’s had been working to achieve 8(a) certification for some time. Not long after, Sawdey received their first Prime contract award supporting the Material Systems Group (MSG) with Acquisition Support. Once this award was finalized, Connie and Jeff could retain their third employee long term. From this point on, the Sawdey’s have worked tirelessly to grow their organization through customer focused support and by always putting their employees first. As Connie tells the story, the hard work that Jeff and she had did in their spare time included a formal website, a newer innovation of the time, that was instrumental in helping them to win their first “big” contract (18 full time resources) with Headquarters (HQ) AFMC Communications Directorate (AFMC/A6) in 2008. Today, the Sawdey’s employ hundreds of skilled professionals in the US and around the world, supporting Federal Government (DOD, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Commerce, etc.) and commercial customers with premier professional services…far exceeding expectations.
